DCECE stands for Diploma Certificate Entrance Competitive Examination. It is a state-level annual exam conducted by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) for admission to diploma engineering and paramedical courses in polytechnic institutes in Bihar.
The exam is held in two parts:
- Polytechnic Engineering (PE): This part of the exam is for admission to diploma engineering courses. The syllabus for the PE paper includes physics, chemistry, and mathematics.
- Paramedical (PM): This part of the exam is for admission to diploma paramedical courses. The syllabus for the PM paper includes physics, chemistry, biology, and general knowledge.
The exam is a pen-and-paper-based test of 2 hours 15 minutes duration. The question paper consists of 90 objective-type questions. The passing marks for the DCECE exam are 50% for general category candidates and 40% for reserved category candidates.
The results of the DCECE exam are announced by the BCECEB in July. The qualified candidates are then admitted to the diploma courses in polytechnic institutes in Bihar.
