International Tiger Day

Every year 26 July is celebrated as International Tiger Day.

In the year 2010, at an international conference held in Petersburg, Russia, it was decided to celebrate International Tiger Day on July 29 every year.

International Tiger Day 2022: Importance

When #ProjectTiger was launched in 1973 for tiger conservation in the country, there were only 8 reserve forests in the country. At present their number has increased to 53 by 2022.

Two Tiger Subspecies are Listed

IUCN recognizes the continental tiger and the Sunda island tiger as tiger subspecies.
