Every year September 7 is celebrated as Independence Day in Brazil.

On September 22, 1822, Brazil's independence was officially declared. (But now it is celebrated on 7th September).

Brazil was ruled by the Portuguese.

The country Brazil is called 'Sete de Setembro'.

Brazil Independence History

Before the arrival of Europeans, Brazil was inhabited by Neolithic tribes, little is known about these settlements because there is little written evidence of their way of life.

1500 when the Portuguese established their colony and started cultivating sugarcane there. They brought people from Africa mainly as slaves to cultivate sugarcane, who had to work in the fields as slaves.

In 1532, São Vicente was established as the first permanent Portuguese settlement, and in 1549, Salvador was declared the first capital of Brazil.
